Lorena and Dali

Legend has it that when the artist, Salvador Dali, arrived in Mexico, he promptly left. Why? He reportedly said that he did not ‘want to be in a country that was more SURREAL than his Art”…

And that precisely describes the reason ARTE exists, why we are here and staying. Presenting to you what is interesting, ethereal, earthy, and surprising about a place we call Home.

I’ve lived and worked around the world, but Mexico has captured my heart, soul, and my imagination. My goal as the Editor Creator of the El Arte Del Bienestar ezine is to present to you compelling stories, photos and videos so you too can fall in love.

MY STORYBOOK

I grew up in a family of volunteers. My Dad was involved in local and city community issues. My Mom was a Girl Scout leader and a school board member. And I became a Red Cross volunteer while I was just an elementary school student.
My local Red Cross sponsored an annual Leadership Training camp each summer for high school students from surrounding counties. There was a monthly meeting led by a duly elected teen President and Secretary. One year I served as the Secretary. One of my duties was reading a letter from a child in Korea whom we sponsored.
In college, I was selected to represent the U.S. along with six others in a program called Friendship Latin America. I was sent to Guadalajara, Mexico as a volunteer to their very large Red Cross Society.
It was on that trip where I had my first ‘fútbol’ experience in the famous Akron stadium. Of course at the time.I knew nothing about the sport. Luckily my partner and I were invited by the daughter of the Governor (and RC patron) to attend a game. We sat in their BOX SEATS!
Fast forward to today and my brand MexXCHIC is a proud supporter of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. These games are historic because for the first time they will be held in three countries: Canada, the U S. and Mexico.
We will bring updates from Mexico. As well as tourism information and ways you can purchase our ‘MERCH’.
Needless to say, we’re behind Mexico for the win. VAMOS MÉXICO.

Introduction

The compelling global event of 2026 may very well be the FIFA World Cup. Today, the meaning of the old adage: ‘It’s not whether you win or lose, But how you play the game’ will be put to the test. I believe sports can be a uniter of people. As players and fans we can All do our part to put on a good show of not only talent, skill and grace under pressure but goodwill, camaraderie and support for whichever country wins. I believe we can truly represent the best of the game in the worst of times.

Already positive change is in the air as FIFA has made a momentous decision to hold the games in three countries.  For the first time in it’s history, the games will be hosted by three countries: Canada 🇨🇦, the USA 🇺🇸 and Mexico 🇲🇽 Although Mexico has welcomed the games previously, the other two countries have not.  To me, it’s a celebration of the Americas, where diversity rules the day.

Of course, my focus is on Mexico, (which historically covered a large part of the western U.S.) and specifically on its second-largest city. Guadalajara and the state of Jalisco. In the run-up to the games, this site will bring you updates and highlights of Mexico, which will surely encourage you to visit. There are so many historical, cultural, culinary, artistic and more aspects to amaze you.

I believe you will learn that:

¡Como Mexico, no hay dos! There is only one Mexico.
